HYDROCHROM CHROMATOGRAPHY HANDS-ON TRAINING

These hands-on training courses will be taught by leading academic and industrial scientists covering both fundamentals as well as applications and examples. The presentations will provide the valuable technical knowledge you need to implement techniques and solutions to solve separation problems in the shortest possible time thereby increasing productivity.

Course notes will be emailed to each confirmed participant who should download and bring a copy of the course notes with them to the course. There will be no printed copies available.

3-day Basic Hands-on HPLC Training (March 5th-7th & October 15th-17th 2019)

This course is recommended for technicians and scientists with little or no knowledge of HPLC and also for new operators wanting a refresher.
Day 1 Location: Vantage Hub, Ikeja, Lagos. 9:00am - 4:00pm Samuel B. Thomas, Westcoast Separations, USA. History and Principle of Chromatography, Configuration of an HPLC, Separation mode and Columns, Selection of Eluent, Detection Methods.
Day 2 Location: Vantage Hub, Ikeja, Lagos. 9:00am - 4:00pm Samuel B. Thomas, Westcoast Separations, USA.

Hands-on Practical on analysis of Pharmaceuticals and Food Supplements.
Day 3 Location: Vantage Hub, Ikeja, Lagos. 9:00am - 4:00pm Samuel B. Thomas, Westcoast Separations, USA. Isocratic vs Gradient Elution, System Suitability Test, Maintenance and Troubleshooting.

3-day Advanced Hands-on HPLC Training (March 12th-14th & October 22nd-24th 2019)

This course is recommended for intermediate HPLC users looking to advance their knowledge. Prerequisite for participants certification at the end of this course is a pass grade in a written test.
Day 1 Location: Vantage Hub, Ikeja, Lagos. 9:00am - 4:00pm Samuel B. Thomas, Westcoast Separations, USA. Important parameters that affect separation (capacity factor, selectivity and efficiency), HPLC Eluents and Solvents, Method development and validation steps.

This course is recommended for laboratory technicians and scientists interested in expanding their understanding of GC.

Instructors

Samuel Thomas

He brings over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and bio- pharmaceutical industry. He is the founder of Westcoast Separations, a Contract Research Organization (CRO), based in California, USA., that specializes in analysis and purification of chemicals and pharmaceuticals. He spent over one decade each with Abbott Laboratories and Amgen Inc, as a Senior Scientist and was responsible for setting up analytical labs, method development, chemical separations and technology development. Throughout his career, Mr. Thomas has built a strong reputation in the industry and developed expertise in all aspects of analytical Chemistry and technologies such as LC, LC/MS, SFC, SFC-MS, GC, GC/MS, Karl Fisher and much more. Mr. Thomas has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, a board member of Cure Pharmaceutical (USA) and Care-now foundation (a NGOs working to solve health problems in the East African Communities like Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. He has on numerous occasions taught instrumentation and HPLC in the US and Nigeria. He has a Master's of Science degree in Chemistry with emphasis on separation science from the Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL.

Jarvis Mpock

He is the Laboratory Manager of Hydrochrom Resources Limited, Nigeria. He has six years experience conducting chemical analysis and research using GC, GC-MS, AAS, LC, SPE and other analytical instruments. He has taught instrumentation to scientist from the Food and Beverages, Pharmaceutical, and the Oil & Gas industry, also providing application support to industries. He has a BSc. Degree in Chemistry from the America University in Cairo, Egypt.
